Wayne III, John William "Bill"
Lt. Col. John William "Bill" Wayne III (ret.), long time resident of Fort
Walton Beach, Fla., passed away peacefully at home with his family around
him on Aug. 28, 2008 shortly after 9 p.m. A devoted member of the
Christian Science Church, he died as he wished and is finally at rest. Bill was
born in Shawnee, Okla., Feb. 28, 1925. He graduated high school in
Shawnee before going on to earn his degree in Electrical Engineering from
Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State and his master's degree from
UCLA. He spent his working life dedicated to his government as a member
of the United States Air Force. His assignments and duties were many and
varied. Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Jami Lee Maloney, and
is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ada May Wayne; son, John William Wayne IV and his wife,
Cindy; brother, Robert Lee Wayne of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister, Joella Wayne Toppi of
Bremerton, Wash.; two granddaughters, Jessica Ann Hasting, Audrey Lynn Pasco; and a great
grandson, Donovan Hasting. A funeral service will be privately held. We thank you for your
