Aloha My Dear Friends and Family,
I want to thank all of you that prayed for us.  For Wes to die without pain and for me for strength.  The prayers have helped. I am sorry to tell you that my husband Major Wesley Richard Hofer, USAF (Ret), died on Monday, November 5th at 8:30 a.m.  Wes had been seriously ill for the past six weeks.  I took him to the hospital on September 20th when he had pneumonia.  We was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer a few days later and with Bone Marrow Cancer a few days after that.  He had 14 units of blood, many bags of platelets and many, many shots that build white blood cells.  Nothing stayed in his bones, the cancer ate it up as fast as it went in.The entire staff of the hospital was so impressed that Wes was always a gentleman and so very brave.
Wes's funeral will be held at the Punchbowl National Cemetery of the Pacific on November 15th at 1:00 p.m. He will be buried with full military honors and all of the children will be there.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made to the KONA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL FOUNDATION. Please note the money will go for a Memorial for Wes and will go toward enlarging the Emergency Room. Many times, during our hospital stay, we saw people laying in hallways because of the lack of space. Wes, was cared for by this hospital, with the best possible care.  If you need more information about the Memorial, please call me at 808-324-7404.
