 Reg,
I'm sending a Power Point that can be zoomed up to 400%. Note Sgt. Meyer is getting a DFC. Larry Cobb says he can't remember him and that he wasn't an IMT. Also the A1C in front of you is getting an Air Medal and is not wearing Wings and has 3 rows of medals. Thanks.
 Gary

I'm baffled. I'm asking the others who receive this to help if they can. Perhaps we could include the photo....along with the question...on the Association home page?

          I can offer a little on this picture. Murphy and Al are in town and can help fill out all needed items. Curious myself to know the rest of the story.
          Picture was taken in Bldg 497 at Offutt sometime between 1967 and 1969. The beautiful wall mural of the 343rd Strat Recon Sq is in the background on the briefing room south wall. The one foot square checkered linoleum tile(ugly) was still on the floor when I signed into the squadron January 1973.
Could this be the 55th crewmembers that during 1969 and 1970 brought the Cobra Ball I, 663, on line at Shemya?
           I love a mystery. Let all know the rest of the story.

I also zoomed in an observed that Sgt Curtiss also was presented with a DFC.  Seems to me back in the cobwebs that three got DFC's that day. So someone in the back row may have also received the DFC.

Murf,
  The interesting thing is that Larry Cobb said that Curtiss was not an IMT and doesn't remember him at all, so he's not sure if he was new to the 55th at that time , arriving from another unit somewhere, but as you well know -not too many of our enlisted guys (SAC or then Sec. Serv,) ever got DFC's. Even on the 121 Briar Patch incident in 1970 only SAC guys got DFCs and at least 2 of them slept through the incident while the AMS and his guys were working like crazy.

 As to the DFCs', again back in the cobwebs seems to me that all where awarded for returning Vietnam troops.  Also I think the captain in the back row fell into that category.  And I agree with your other email, think he was a pilot. I think that the 70 incident was Cobro Jaw vs Briar Patch.  (Nit picking ain't I)

 Reg;
 I was looking at the awards picture on the 55SRWA web site & I THINK the Capt. in the back row standing next to Col Riggs is Tom Young. He transfered to the 343rd from the 2nd ACCS. when we picked up the Burning Light project.
