Daniel G. Mateik Sr.                                                 

Lt. Col. (Ret) Daniel G. Mateik left this world for his "happy hunting ground" on January 5, 2007. He was born July 15, 1931. Colonel Mateik was a 22 year Air Force Veteran. He was a Master Navigator and Electronic Warfare Officier. He held a Bachelors Degree from UCLA and a Masters Degree from the University of Oklahoma. His decorations included the Distinguished Flying Cross and Two Oak Leaf Clusters. Colonel Mateik was an avid outdoorsman and had a serious passion for conservation belonging to the Portuguese Bend Nature Conservancy as well as the Adirondack Society. Mateik was married to his lovely wife the former Bette Potter for 50 years and 7 days. They have two loving children Daniel Jr., and Susan. Additionally they were blessed with three beautiful grandchildren Danny III, Ally and Eileen.
