Subject: Ray "Jumbo" O'Neal Checks In

I had a call from Ray "Jumbo" O'Neal (817-295-3817) today. He is planning to come up here for the Combat Apple Reunion Sept 11-13th. (See www.CombatApple40.com for details.)

He told me he is having a 1:72 scale model made of Lisa Ann by a professional model maker in Ft. Worth (Charles Fleming, Collectors Air Model Company, 800-289-3167.) He wants to present it to the 45th RS while he is up here, presuming it is completed in time. He also wanted a listing of the crewmembers. Ray is not on e-mail so I have printed out some material from your 6SRW website including the list of crewmembers.

I told him I would make preliminary contact with the 45th next week on his plans.
I also suggest that as this moves forward you would be a key player along with our local 55th SRW Association in getting a turnout of vets for such a presentation.

Ray was 82nd SRS Commander at Kadena Oct '70- Jun '71 and then replaced by his Ops Officer, Reg Urschler.
I'm not sure of when he was on Shemya (Det 1/CC?) but mid-late 60s I believe. Don Griffin/Bill Ernst should be able to provide us word on that.
