 To All,

This is just a heads-up that there is an event scheduled for January  31,  starting at 6 p.m. at the American Airlines C. R. Smith Museum  that  might be of some interest to you.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first flight of the  first  Convair B-58 Hustler this past November 11, and also in  celebration of  the life of one of the most accomplished test pilots  of the 20th  Century, Mr. Beryl Erickson (B-58 first flight pilot who  died earlier  this month), there will be a gathering of B-58 pioneers  at the CRSM on  the afore- mentioned date.

Included among the many expected to attend are the following:

 (1) Mr. Fitz Fulton - noted test pilot who flew not only the B-58,  but
also the XB-70, the Concorde, the YF-12A, and a long list of  other
noteworthy high-performance military and civilian aircraft.  Fitz was
also the pilot of NASA's B-52B carrier aircraft throughout  much of its
 long and noteworthy career.

 (2) Mr. Charlie Harrison - third-seat crew member on the first flight  of
 the first B-58.

 (3) Mr. J. D. McEachern - second-seat crew member on the first flight  of
 the first B-58.

 (4) Mr. Harry Hillaker - chief project engineer on the B-58 and  later,
 father of the F-16.

 (5) Mr. Bob Widmer - chief of design on the B-58 and one of Convair/
 General Dynamics most noteworthy engineers.

 (6) Mr. Dale Fort - B-58 flight test engineer.

 (7) Mr. George McClain - B-58 flight test manager.

 (8) Mr. Dan Milburn - B-58 flight test instrumentation manager.

 (9) Mr. Vern Salzman - B-58 flight test manager.

 (10) Possibly the following: Val Prahl (B-58 test pilot); Bill  Williams
(Convair chief of photography during B-58 program); Fred  Vorhees (B-58
crew); Jimmy Hicks (B-58 crew); Byron Miller (B-58  crew); O.D. Lively
(B-58 crew); Harold Johnson (team captain a/c #5);  Bill Allen (design
 engineer).

There almost certainly will be more than a few others.

This should be a terrific and interesting evening. A gathering of  B-58  pioneers like this almost certainly will never occur again.

Price will be $20 at the door (or you can buy tickets from the CRSM  in  advance; call Latanne Steele at 817 967 -5995). Price includes BBQ  dinner, soft drink or tea, dessert, etc.

 All the best, Jay Miller
 (817 261-1420)

p.s. Please feel free to invite any others who you think might be  interested in attending this once-in-a-lifetime event.
