Subject: Taps for James Paxton
Dear Max,

This is a very sad message for me to convey. It is my duty to report the death of M/sgt. James E. Paxton who passed away on November 1, 2004. Jim was my Flight Engineer on RB- 29's and RB-50-s from 1949 to 1953. During that period we completed two overseas deployments of six months each. Shortly thereafter, Jim left the service for employment with TWA as a flight engineer on Connies. Jim had a very keen interest in flying and perused every opportunity achieve his dream of being a pilot. Before he retired he was promoted to Captain on 727's.  It was a very sad occasion for the crew and especially for me when he left us. Our heart and souls were tied up in our airplanes and we had been through many exciting experiences in the performance of our missions for the Fighting 55th. He leaves behind his wife Anita of many years and three grown children. Jim was a member in good standing in the association and attended many of our reunions. I cannot tell you how much he meant to me as a crewmember and a friend in later years. If you need his address it is:

James E. Paxton
1420 E. Commodore Place
Tempe, AZ 85283-5508

I am having my ups and downs healthwise, but still hanging in there. If you need anything further, let me know.

I wish you and yours the best in the New Year.

Pappy Cole
