"95th RECONNAISSANCE SQUADRON"

95th RECONNAISSANCE SQUADRON
On 1 July 1994, the 922nd Reconnaissance Squadron was inactivated and the 95th Reconnaissance Squadron was activated in it's place. Before this recent activation, the 95th was the sole TR-1 /U-2S squadron in Europe but was inactivated during the reorganization of the AF in the early 1990s. The 95th Reconnaissance Squadron today is located at RAF Mildenhall with Detachment 1 at Souda Bay, Crete. Their mission is to conduct reconnaissance operations in Europe and the Mediterranean area. The kicking mule emblem was officially approved on 4 March 1924 and the significance of the emblem is described as follows: The blue disc (sky) is indicative of the arena of the squadron's mission in the air. The mule in a strike position symbolizes the unit's striking power, swift and accurate. The 95th comes under the 55th Wing at Offutt AFB. Patch information in part by Major Greg Ogletree while the illustrated patch comes out of Andy Hunold's personal collection.
