"Combat Sent"
COMBAT SENT SCIENTIFIC TECHNICAL - patch depicts a raven in
flight over a map (some say it's the Balkans, most people say it looks like
Florida). A red banner crosses through the middle of the shield, displaying a
frequency spectrum monitor display. This patch was actually the first "A"-Flight
patch for the 343 SRS, 55th SRW, Offutt AFB. The patch comes at least in two
variation, one is more crudely made and definitely older, while the second
version features a finer embroidery which means it was manufactured more
recently. Background information are taken from a feature article, written by
now retired Major Greg Ogletree (formerly of 2 ACCS, Offutt) for ASMIC's Trading
Post, Spring 1995 issue, pages 33- 54. Greg happily agreed that I could use his
article and share the information. The patches shown are out of my own USAF
cloth patch collection. Should anybody (especially any members of the 55th Wing
or former members of the 55th SRW or any units attached / assigned to the Wing
have any patches available for sale or trade (in particular any TDY or
deployment patches as well as project patches) I very much would love to hear
from them if possible.
