Pacer Link

"2nd ACCS Pacer Link"

2 ACCS - PACER LINK NO PROBLEM
This patch was designed around 1988 by a radio operator (whose name was not recorded) for wear by everyone in 2 ACCS who flew on the first Pacer Link mission onboard aircraft 8048. the aircraft's nose art depicted TV character "Alf" with a scroll underneath bearing one of his favorite phrases "NO PROBLEM". The first version of this patch didn't have the top tab with PACER LINK, just the NO PROBLEM on the bottom tab. According to Greg Ogletree's ASMIC article the "NO PROBLEM" was tongue -in-cheek because the Pacer Link aircraft were initially plagued with problems. PACER LINK was the official designation of the communications upgrade modification. The patch was received by Andreas Hunold (MSgt, GEAF, ret.) from former 55th SRW member SrA Thomas Chevallier. Information covering the background of the patch was taken from Major (USAF ret) Greg Ogletree's ASMIC Trading Post article Summer 1994, pages 43-53.

Shown here is the first version of the famous ALF character patch which only features the bottom tab with the famous "NO PROBLEM" phrase. The patch is of the same dimension as the already illustrated PACER LINK patch, just that it has only one tab instead of two. For background information please refer to the related Pacer Link patch shown elsewhere in this gallery. Patch courtesy of Andreas Hunold's personal cloth patch collection.
