2008 Hall of Fame Selections
The Hall of
Fame Selection committee met on 31 January 2008. The
Selection Committee was made up of the maximum seven members, including the
Assn Awards Chairman of the Awards Committee, the Chairman of the Screening
Committee and five other Association members. The group included Omaha
Caucus members, both retired and active duty personnel, members of the BoD
of the Assn, of the Hall of Fame,
and the 55th Wing Vice Commander.
It was the
decision of the committee that LtColonel
Jeffery L. Needham, USAF Retired, and the late
Chief MSgt Lawence A. Cobb, USAF
Retired, are to be inducted into the 55th Wing Hall of Fame for
2008.
President and Committee Chair Jim Thomas announced in
an e-mail to the Board of Directors 7 February the results.
He gave a synopsis of each man’s
service to the Wing during their careers and after retirement where the
actions impacted the missions of the 55th. He also asked for
concurrence of the committee’s action from the BoD as per the selection
process procedure. The action of the Selction Committee was concurred upon
by the Board of Directors.
President Thomas then informed BGen James
Jones, 55th Wing Commander, on 12 February 2008 of the
selections. Notification to the inductees was completed on 14 February.
