Lieutenant Colonel Mohan S. Krishna is the Commander of the 343d
Reconnaissance Squadron, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska,
He is responsible for providing 117
combat-ready aircrew members and support personnel for worldwide
deployment to conduct politically-sensitive, potentially hostile
RC-135 RIVET JOINT reconnaissance missions as directed by the
Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Colonel Krishna was born in Bethesda, Maryland on 1 January
1970.
He was raised in Rockville, Maryland
where he attended Charles W. Woodward High School.
He attended the United States Air Force
Academy, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
He received a Masters of Business
Administration from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 2003
and a Masters of Military Arts and Science from Air Command and
Staff College in 2006.
Colonel Krishna completed Squadron
Officer School in residence in 1999 and Air Command and Staff
College in residence in 2006.
Additionally, he completed Air War
College by correspondence in 2008.
Col Krishna’s first assignment, after receiving his commission,
was to Aircraft Maintenance and Munitions Officer Course at
Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois.
After graduation, he reported to the
347th Fighter Wing at Moody Air Force Base, Georgia.
He served as the flight commander for Avionics Flight, Aerospace
Ground Equipment Flight and Support Section Flight before
receiving orders.
He attended Undergraduate Navigator
Training at Pensacola Naval Air Station, Florida, followed by
Joint Electronic Warfare Course at Corey Station, Florida.
Colonel Krishna’s first operational flying assignment was to the
343d Reconnaissance Squadron at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska
from 1997-1999 as an RC-135 RIVET JOINT Electronic Warfare
Officer.
He served as an instructor electronic
warfare officer and assistant flight commander and deployed in
support of Operations NOBLE ANVIL, NORTHERN WATCH AND SOUTHERN
WATCH before being selected as the 55th Operations Group
Executive Officer.
During his time at the Operations Group,
he also deployed as the Executive Officer and Protocol Officer
for the 763d Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron, Al Dhafra Air
Base, United Arab Emirates.
In 2001 Colonel Krishna returned to the
343d Reconnaissance Squadron, serving as a flight commander and
Chief of the Commander’s Action Group.
In September 2001, he deployed to
Thumrait Air Base, Oman, as a tactics officer for the start of
Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
In February 2003 he deployed to Prince
Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia, as the lead Assistant Operations
Officer for the start of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
After returning from Saudi Arabia,
Colonel Krishna was reassigned to the National Security Agency,
Maryland, where he served as the Operations Officer and
Requirements Chief for the Electromagnetic Space Program Office.
His program office developed a new
computer system to allow warfighters to access and use various
sources of data and better employ electronic warfare assets.
In 2005, Colonel Krishna was selected to
attend Air Command and Staff College, at Maxwell AFB, Alabama.
He graduated in June 2006 and was again
assigned to the 343d Reconnaissance Squadron.
He was picked to serve as the Director
of Operations for the 763d Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron
during the summer of 2007 and was then selected to serve as
Director of Operations for the 55th Operations Support Squadron
upon his return.
Most recently Col Krishna was interim
Director for 55th Wing Plans and Programs.
Colonel Krishna is a Senior Navigator with over 1,800 flying
hours, to include over 200 combat/combat support flying hours.
He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on 1 December,
2007.
He is currently assigned as commander of
the 343d Reconnaissance Squadron.
Colonel Krishna is married to the former
Susanne Miedema of San Diego, California.
They have four children, Kevin, Mallory,
Cameron and Cullen.
